PREMIERE | I, Us, & We

The Doverspike brothers from Southern California have been songwriting and playing music together for over ten years, but they’ve only chosen to record and release their first EP as a band this year. Mono, which was recently featured on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing mixtape, is escapist dream-pop that reaches deeply into thoughts of love and the human consciousness, taking with it all the inherent self-reflection that comes from one’s experience navigating their way through an often complex and trying world.

Working for the first time with producer, Chad Marshman, the dream-pop trio worked specifically on creating distinct sonic landscapes which also paid homage to personal experiences and circumstances. “We wanted to capture a mood and a feeling as opposed to gleaning from another artist’s sound”, said one-part I, Us, & We, Jordan Doverspike. “The theme of this record is self-reflection…everything is written from personal experience because we feel those are the only things that we have authority over (and can write about truthfully)."

As a first release, their debut is both mature and attentive. With cosmic synths and vast guitar riffs, Mono orbits between the reality we know and the realm we would like to escape to; it could be music for dreamers, but those who intently seek healing will feel its remedial embrace more.

The debut EP from I, Us, & We is available for streaming/download through Bandcamp from 6th April.
