KASSASSIN ST | To Be Young

Word of mouth is creating a swell of support for Portsmouth five-piece Kassassin St as they thunderously debut their first single of 2015, off the back of already selling out their first three shows of the year around the Uniting Kingdom. Known for their crazily-catchy sound, To Be Young ventures more into the dance-rock stadium of production, giving listeners a steadfast rock sound that is mixed with anything from the Stereophonics to Soulwax; although early comparisons have been garnered around their likeness to The Music.

Off the back of having one of the most played independent tracks on Sydney’s FBi Radio last year for their single With Roses, psychedelic rock trio, The Walking Who, have returned with a European-inspired single from the band’s first overseas venture.

Channelling the earthly depths of The Black Angels and the haze of a My Bloody Valentine vocal is the self-titled debut EP from shoegaze/noise pop trio My Invisible Friend. 

THE VICKERS | Ghosts

Florence quartet The Vickers can be easily identified by their signature 60’s psych-rock sound which derives much of its inspiration from the hooks and catchiness of British invasion songs; perhaps better articulated by the band as being an influence of “immortal 60’s melodies mixed with a touch of 90’s spleen”. 

THE NEW HIGHWAY HYMNAL

The New Highway Hymnal were recently named the "Best Act of 2012" by Boston Phoenix and made our "Best of Bandcamp" wrap-up in 2013 for their Whispers  release late last year. With influences stemming from 60's rock to the later psychedelic bands of North America and Britain, the four pack a live show with enough brooding attitude and psychedelic swirl to see them get noticed among new audiences beyond their debut festival appearance at SXSW and through the live music scene of their hometown Boston.

If history is anything to go by, Italy is repeating its 60’s resurgence of Western-inspired, progressive and psych-rock sounds when it produces acts like The Vickers. The Florence quartet have seasoned themselves with over five years touring independently and with established acts, and releasing two solid albums, as well as being in the process of recording their third.
